Guide

Build a landing page in the visual editor

The Aurora visual editor: the block palette on the left, the page on the canvas and the selected block's fields on the right

This guide takes a campaign page from an empty canvas to published, using only the visual editor. You need a role that can create pages: an Editor, or an Author who sends it for review.

  1. 1

    Create the page

Under Pages, choose New page and give it a title. The address is made from the title. Pick the Landing page layout under Layout; Start from copies another page's blocks if you want a head start.

  2. 2

    Open the visual editor

Choose Design. The canvas shows the page in your website's own stylesheet, exactly as visitors will see it.

  3. 3

    Add a hero

Drag a Hero block from the palette onto the canvas, or click it to add it at the end. Click the headline and type. Wrap a word in *asterisks* to give it the highlight.

  4. 4

    Build a section

Drop a Section band below it, add a Section with two columns inside, and drag an Image into one column and a Heading and a Button group into the other. Click the empty image to pick one from the media library.

  5. 5

    Fine-tune

Select a block to see its fields in the inspector, with padding, background, width and alignment under design. Copy a block's style onto another, and undo anything with Ctrl+Z.

  6. 6

    Check every width

Switch between desktop, tablet and mobile in the toolbar, then Preview to see the unsaved page inside the real website, with its header and footer.

  7. 7

    Publish, or send for review

Save, then publish, or set a publish date to schedule it. Authors send it for review instead, and editors are notified.
